Lemon cars

Same fault, another trip to the shop

When the same defect survives repair after repair, the maker may owe you a refund or a replacement.

We gather every repair order, put the visits in order and send the demand to the manufacturer. Federal warranty law and most state lemon laws make the maker pay your lawyer’s fees when you win, so for most of these cases you pay us nothing. You may still owe court costs; we explain them first.

We look at

  • New cars, and used cars still under warranty

  • Repeat repairs for one fault, or long stays in the shop

  • Cars, trucks, motorcycles and RVs

What we build for the maker

  • Every repair order

In date order, with the mileage and the days the car sat at the dealer.

  • The demand letter

Sent to the manufacturer, naming the defect and what you’re owed.

  • A buyback figure

What you’ve paid, less a fair amount for the miles you drove.

Lemon car questions

How many repair visits make a lemon?

It depends on the law that applies and the defect. A safety defect can count after fewer visits. Send us the repair orders and we’ll tell you where you stand.

My warranty just ran out. Is it too late?

Not always. What counts is often when the defect first showed up and was reported. Send an intake with the dates you have.

Do I keep driving the car?

Usually, yes, unless it isn’t safe. Keep it insured, keep the payments up and keep every repair order.
